Avatar gets my Thumbs Up!!!

I definitely give Avatar two thumbs up. James Cameron blew me away with his captivating graphics, interesting characters, and motivational story line.
The first time I saw a tailor for the film, I had to see it. I was mesmerized by the special effects and by the adventure it had to offer.

The story takes place on a planet called Pandora. Pandora is populated by a species of humanoids called the Na'vi. A former marine, Jake Sully takes the place of his deceased twin brother in the Avatar Program. A program intended to study the Na'vi and gather information for the company that runs it. Jake is taken in by the Na'vi and taught their ways. He ends up falling in love with Neytiri, a native of the Na'vi, and fighting for the people of Pandora.

Graphics Effect

The graphics of this film are amazing. James Cameron actually came up with the ideas for this movie in 1995, but technology could not yet do what he wanted to do for this film. In 2007 they finally started production, and in 2009 Avatar kicked but on the big screen with its tantalizing visual effect.
The glow in the dark jungle left me in awe. It was beautiful. It was like the moon was a black light everything was so bright.
The jungle really brought a lot of life to this movie and just gave the movie the proper setting for its characters and scenes. I really was hypnotized by planet Pandora's landscape.
The floating mountains really made you believe that these really exist. Massive rock formations floating in the sky. Giant vines connect some of the smaller boulders, creating sort of a stairway to the clouds. The mountains added obstacle to particular scenes of the movie.

Flight scenes gave me a rush, wishing I could sore the skies. The ikranes or banshees made each flight scene adventurous. The beautiful dragon like creatures fascinated me, with their massive wing span and vibrant coloring. The main parts of the ending battle between the Na'vi and the marines main scenes took place in the sky. The battle was exhilarating. I rooted for the Na'vi to win, yelling at the screen absolutely captured by the coordination  of the banshees and aircraft have in the sky.

Animation or Acting

Avatar rocked with its all star cast, with actors such as; Sam Worthington as Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana as Neytiri. Other star actors such as, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Wes Studi, Laz Alonso, and many more. These actors made these characters real.

The actors actually acted out the scenes as you would a regular movie. During the filming of the movie, the actors had to receive special training, to learn the style of movement Cameron wanted his characters to have. Speech training for the particular dialect of the Na`vi and training to become physically fit for their own stunts.

Jake(Worthington), is a former marine, bound to a life in a wheel chair. He doesn't feel he has purpose and all he wants to do is something worth fighting for. When Jake loses his brother, he is offered to take over his brothers investments in the Avatar Program. Jakes spirits are lifted when he becomes his avatar. He is once again able to walk, hes given back that freedom. Jake starts to live a double life. On one side he is providing information for the company that wants to move the Na`vi off their land and as the avatar he is becoming part of the Na`vi clan. "Everything is backwards now, its like out there is the true world and in here is the dream." (Jake Sully)

Neytiri(Saldana), daughter of the Na`vi clan leader, Eytukan(Studi), rescues Jake when he gets lost in the woods. She doesn't like him, but she fills that there is something different about him.
"You have a strong heart. No fear, but stupid, ignorant like a child"
Neytiri ends up teaching Jake the ways of her people. She is my favorite character because of her passion and patience for others.
Colonel Miles Quaritch(Lang), our villain of the film. Every good story needs a villain, right? Beefy jar head marine, that stops at nothing to get his way. He is very gun ho. Quaritch wants Jake to gather in-tail about the Na`vi. He soon finds out that the clan are not going to surrender the land and tries to vacate them by any means possible.

Love and War

Avatar brings sci-fi, romance, and adventure together to build a story that captivated my heart and stimulated my mind.
Pandora is a beautiful place filled with unique creatures and plant life. The Na`vi, an indigenous species that live on the the planet, have to fight for the land that they not only call home but are connected to through energy.
"That's more connections than the human brain. You get it? It's a network - a global network. And the Na'vi can access it. They can upload and download data, memories at sites like the one you just destroyed."
 (Grace Augustine)

Jake Sully, a paralyzed former marine, is sent out on a mission to gather information on the Na`vi. Jake uses his avatar body to learn the ways of the people and falls in love with Neytiri, a female of the Na`vi clan. A war breaks loose between the Na`vi and the humans over the land. Jake, because of his love for Neytiri goes against his own species.

Jake: Yes, she is a good hunter. But I've already chosen. But this woman must also choose me.
Neytiri: "
She already has."

The controversies in this film set the stage for great and exciting fight scenes. My favorite was the one between Jake and Quaritch. Colonel Quaritch ask Jake to gather the in-tail needed to either get the Na`vi to move or be destroyed. Jake abandons his mission and goes turns against the colonel. This, among other things, drives Quaritch to kill Jake.
"Hey Sully... how does it feel to betray your own race? You think you're one of them? Time to wake up!"

Expected Unexpectedly

Avatar was definitely a film to talk about. Fulfilling the genre needs of Si-fi, Fantasy, Romance, and Action fans everywhere. Its entertainment from beginning to end and I would recommend this movie to most. It captured my heart opened my mind and gave a message that everyone should hear. We must respect our environment and those living in it. If we keep destroying everything, animals, plants, and the air, we have no way of survival. Roger Ebert said " It is an Event, one of those films you feel you must see to keep up with the conversation." and I cant help but to agree.
